Reserve Tupé
Tupé - Reserve of Sustainable Development
Located on the left bank of the Rio Negro 25 km from the center of the city of Manaus, is the Tupe Reserve of Sustainable Development. RSD TUPÉ is especially suited for the practice of ecotourism with its natural beauty and lands protected by the Environmental Municipality (Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente - SEMMA). This body, SEMMA, functions by regulating and educating the local communities, such as the caboclos, ribeirinhos and indígenas, in sustainable use of the land. With its natural environmental assets and community coordination, RDS TUPE has become an ideal tourism destination in Manaus.
With the support of various governmental institutions and NGOs which orientate, conduct research, and develop capacity (such as SEMMA, INPA, IPAAM, MANAUSTUR, AMAZONASTUR, SEBRAE, SENAC, IPÊ e NYMUENDAJU), the communities are gradually developing the area for sustainable tourism. With the aid of NGO Nymuendaju, which attempts to develop viable programs in sustainable development, the practice of local ecotourism is not only an expectation for the community, but also transforming the area to be ecologically sensitive and to have economically feasible business.
To take advantage of the beautiful beaches, enjoy the lakes and flooded forests, bath in the waterfall, walk under the jungle canopy and hear the tropical birds sing, to see blue butterflies, diverse insects and other animals unique to this region – are some of the activities which are possible at the Tupé Reserve. This tropical paradise is a place for responsible leisure combined with nature.
Complimenting all of this is the magic of cultural expressions of the indigenous amazon people. With the presentation of ritual dances from three tribes who live there, the Tukano, Dessana, and Tuiuca, there is an exceptional opportunity to hear unique styles of music accompanied by unusual instruments. In addition, the chief presents their history about the beginning of the world, visions of their people inherited from their ancestors, and demonstrations of the daily rituals of his people.
To enjoy this world of magic and beauty Manautur, a business specializing in Amazonian Ecotourism, invites you to embrace this adventure with security, responsibility, and quality tourism.
